LET THEM SEE

A Photography Education Program Helping People Rediscover Their Ability to See the World

"So many kids, and adults, have forgotten how to see the world around them. I hope to present a way that allows them to do that."

— Thomas Colvin

The Mission

For the past 5 years, I've worked as a sports portrait photographer in Dothan, Alabama, creating powerful images that capture the strength and spirit of athletes. But before that, I spent more than two decades as a professional visual artist, learning to see the world through a creative lens.

Throughout my career, something has struck me deeply: so many people have forgotten how to see the world around them. They show me their drawings, their creative attempts, seeking validation—hungry for a way to express what they observe and feel.

That's why I'm launching "Let Them See"—a photography education program designed to help people rediscover their ability to truly see and capture the world around them.

Who We Serve

Parents & Grandparents

Learn to capture precious moments with your kids and grandkids with confidence and creativity.

Creative Adults

Discover photography as a creative outlet and learn to express your unique perspective.

Young Creatives

Kids with artistic spirits who want to explore the world through a camera lens.

What We're Building

Let Them See will offer basic photography education using professional curriculum and hands-on learning. Classes will be held in my Dothan photography studio, where students will have access to quality equipment and personalized instruction.

This isn't about creating professional photographers—though some may go that route. It's about giving people the gift of seeing again: noticing light, composition, emotion, and story in the everyday moments that surround us.

Our Journey

How You Can Help

We're raising $8,000 to purchase 8 mid-level digital cameras with lenses and memory cards. This equipment will allow students to learn by doing, not just watching—removing the barrier of expensive equipment that prevents so many people from accessing photography education.

Every dollar will go directly toward purchasing cameras and gear that will serve our community for years to come.

Note: This is a personal fundraiser to purchase teaching equipment as we work toward establishing Let Them See as a nonprofit organization. Donations are not currently tax-deductible.

Help Us Launch Let Them See

Together, we can help people see the world—and themselves—in a whole new light.
